Destination Wedding in Barolo, Piedmont, Italy / Jenna & Jason
Getting the chance to photograph a destination wedding in Italy has been a dream of mine ever since I started shooting weddings. To be able to combine my first trip to Europe with the opportunity to document Jenna & Jason’s wedding week in Barolo, Piedmont made me feel incredibly lucky. I flew into Rome and then made my way slowly north over three weeks before meeting up with the wedding party.
Barolo is a small village famous for wine in the Cuneo province of northern Italy, one hour south of Turin. What an absolutely drop dead gorgeous little part of the world. Dreamlike, romantic, whimsical and timeless. Rolling hills covered in fog and vines. The landscape is incredible and the wine it produces is even better. Jenna & Jason are both talented sommeliers, so naturally these two decided their favorite wine region would make a suitable location for their I do’s. Understatement of the year! I spent 4 days with the bride and groom and around 40 of their closest family and friends. Days consisted of lounging by the pool, touring wineries, family style meals, tasting menus at the best local restaurants, pizza nights, and bottomless Nebbiolo. It all culminated with a ceremony and reception at the historic Marchesi di Barolo, right in the heart of the village.
I can’t understate how grateful I am to these two for bringing me along for this ride. I loved every second I got to spend with this crew and it’s a time in my life I will never forget. I hope these images make you feel like you were there too.
Until next time, Italy
